The Sight ReadingThe Sight Reading series is a valuable new addition to the Neil A. Kjos Piano Repertoire Library. As they say, “You learn to sight read by doing it!”
This series includes piano music of various textures and styles to be used to improve student sight reading, as well as overall reading skills beginning at the elementary level. The series is useful as a supplement to any course of study and includes original music by Diane Hidy (Prep. to Level 2) and Snell editions of works (Levels 2 to 4) by composers of the 17th through early 20th centuries.
The works are brief enough for students to quickly read during their practice. They are also useful as “short study” pieces that can be practiced, but only for a few days, or at most a couple of weeks. The music is not intended for performance, but rather to improve students’ ability to learn new music quickly and efficiently.
Attractive original music by Keith Snell taking students from Middle-C position to C, F, and G Five-Finger positions. The included CD contains accompaniments composed and performed by Diane Hidy which motivate and support the learning process. Each accompaniment is presented at three different tempos with different levels of prominence to the solo part.

A book of exercises created to develop the skills and physical freedom needed to play elementary piano music. The exercises are written as short patterns to be memorized quickly so that students can focus on proper playing technic rather than note reading. It will be most successful when used to support the study of Beginning Piano Repertoire, but can also be used to advantage with any elementary course of piano study.

Beginning Piano Multi-Key Reading introduces elementary pianists to twelve Major five-finger positions and key signatures. These keys and positions are presented in groups of similar keyboard topography to facilitate learning and coordination. Warm-ups, etudes, and short pieces provide reading experiences all over the grand staff, helping students to avoid getting "stuck" in the Middle C, C and G Major positions.
